Local Takes is a documentary film series spotlighting local artists in Spartanburg, SC. Trey Morrow and I began production in 2019, and premiered these six short films Feb 20, 2020 in Spartanburg, SC during a public event featuring local vendors and the featured artists: Lucy Boland, Andrew Blanchard, Annette Giaco, TheMadddartist, Beth Bullman Regula, and Addam Duncan.
In this short film series, southern artists reflect on their craft and what led them to pursue an artist’s life in a world filled equally with inspiration and setbacks. Faced with challenges in education, employment, criticism, race and gender roles, these artists use their energy to create and communicate, revealing not just what it means to be an artist, but what it means to be human.
